Victoria Mugwanya, founder and creative director of Face Off Exclusive Functions, is a dynamic leader with over 25 years of experience in hospitality, food and beverage, and event management. Her remarkable journey began at the age of 15 when her father challenged her to fund part of an overseas school tour. He promised to match her savings if she worked during her school holidays. Rising to the occasion, Victoria secured a job as a server at a local restaurant, where she quickly gained recognition for her dedication and became the top earner in tips. By the end of her term, she had not only surpassed her financial goal but also earned the respect of her father, peers, and employers, setting the stage for a successful career in hospitality.

Impressed by her work ethic and charisma, the restaurant continued to hire Victoria during school breaks, eventually promoting her to client service manager at just 18. This early exposure fueled her love for creating exceptional guest experiences. While juggling her college studies in Business Information Systems and Communications, Victoria managed the local country club and restaurant as she began honing her skills in hospitality and event coordination.

At 21, Victoria co-founded her first events company, Vixens, alongside two friends. Their youthful ambition and dedication to excellence quickly made the company a local success. Four years later, they sold Vixens to a larger company, marking a pivotal moment in her career. Victoria continued to thrive in the industry, holding management roles in prestigious hotels and fine dining establishments across South Africa, the UK, and Uganda. Her work in Cape Town’s elite Waterfront and Camps Bay areas exposed her to a diverse clientele, further sharpening her ability to craft tailored, memorable experiences.

Now based in Entebbe, Uganda, Victoria combines her vast expertise with a deeply personal approach, taking the time to understand and exceed her clients’ expectations. Her career has been shaped by her unwavering commitment to excellence, a passion for creativity, and a belief that hospitality is her true calling. Not only is she excelling at events management but she also now dubs as a hospitality specialist/ consultant for a number of high end hospitality businesses in and around Uganda. As she says, “Every time I try to leave this industry, it somehow pulls me right back in… and I love it!”

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Victoria is a devoted mother who enjoys traveling, hosting friends for a champagne brunch or high tea, fashion, creating and preparing exotic dishes, interior design, and exploring history, particularly Scandinavian, Roman, Egyptian, and Greek cultures. She is also an avid reader and writer of short stories, with a keen interest in psychology and sociology.
